It's time to go off the beaten path.

It's time to go off the beaten path.

Welcome, creatures

Yes, there are still discoveries to be made. There are new, unknown, unheralded bands to see before they blow up and have their songs blasting in every earbud, before they’re headlining every festival and are selling out every venue from Tokyo to Tulsa.

Kick up some dust

There are new songs to hear, in places you’ve never heard them. Songs that will and notes that, played live, will have a different charged energy, that will never be heard in the same way ever again. There’s the food you’ve never had from the chef of that one restaurant you’ve been meaning to try. I mean, you never even knew half these bands and restaurants and venues and artists were even here in the Biggest Little City.

All the things

That’s the spirit of the Off Beat Music Festival. It’s a citywide, multi-venue festival that’s all about discovering the amazing new things being created right here in Reno –  music, food, drink and more. Performances are at a mix of venues from small bars to large theaters, from art galleries to restaurants and even shops, creating a “festival crawl” where you can see a number of bands at different venues around the core of Reno. Go off the beaten path and make some new discoveries.

Artist Spotlight - Sego

We’ve been buzzing about these guys around Off Beat HQ for months now. We’re absolutely thrilled to have them at the festival - be prepared to mash on this play button for the next 30-40 minutes.

"Sego's Spencer Petersen and Thomas Carroll were both birthed in the burgeoning Provo, Utah music scene. However, finding inspiration in the dissonance that the towering structures and bustling city offers over the mountains and relative quiet of Provo, both relocated to an old pasta factory in downtown LA. Through various projects together, both founding members uncovered their distinct sound: lazy, grungy guitars with digital overlays and refreshingly honest lyrics. The band’s debut album surprises with angular guitars, complex arrangements and musings from an 80’s kid contemplating the void left from the misguided hope of our youth."
